AI-Assisted Coding Storytime: Last week I built an MVP for Motive11’s new website inside Google AI Studio… in an afternoon. Super cool except: it wanted everything to be a full React single-page app. Views instead of pages. TypeScript everywhere. Great for apps — not ideal for a marketing site. So that was my first “aha” moment. Then I jumped into Claude Code. Instead of forcing a build, I used it as an interactive learning tool. I told it: - I’m extremely fluent in WordPress - I understand dynamic data, CPTs, taxonomies, relationships, etc. - But I don’t understand how modern web development works outside that ecosystem So I had it teach me. In about an hour, Claude walked me through the landscape: static sites → headless CMS → full app frameworks. It showed me how Astro works, how it compares to WordPress, how routing works, how you build pages, collections, single templates, relationships — all inside little side-by-side grids right in the chat window. It was the fastest I’ve ever learned a new development paradigm. Once it clicked, I downloaded my React codebase from AI Studio, dropped it into VS Code, and asked Claude to rewrite the whole thing into a proper Astro marketing site. It did it in under five minutes. Now Motive11’s site is built on @astrodotbuild — clean, fast, simple, and actually built for content. And honestly… it's wild how much exists outside the WordPress bubble. AI isn’t just helping me code. It’s helping me finally understand modern web development — interactively, and at ridiculous speed.
